BLACK AND PEWTER
To obtain our traditional black finish the products are first dipped in a wet paint which ensures that any moving parts are well protected. A stove drying process then takes place. When this is completed a dry powder coat is applied which again is stove dried to give our black finish. This double coating of paint helps prevent corrosion.
You will discover that there are many products in our range which look similar. This is because for many years we have offered a range of antique style ironmongery and also a plain or smooth iron range. Both ranges offer the same strength and durability you would expect from a traditional British made product.
Our pewter finish is achieved in a similar way but using a different powder coat. Most of the items in our black range are also available in pewter finish.
Our original and authentic patterns are used to produce our Cast Brass Range. After casting the components are polished and then assembled by hand. A tough lacquer is then applied to offer protection against corrosion. (Note: it is possible to specify an unlacquered finish).
This range is produced in exactly the same way as our normal malleable iron products. However, before assembly they are highly polished and then subjected to an electro-plating process which leaves them with a tough, lustrous finish.
